The aim of this map is to show the level of geographical detail present in the STN archives. Using Daniel Nordman, and Marie-Vic Ozouf-Marignier, Atlas De La Révolution Française (Paris: Éditions de l 'École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, 1989), it was possible to recreate these two trade routes between Neuchatel, Paris and Florence.

This level of precision was obtained by using places named in the STN archives and Google Earth. However, some of these routes remain speculative. For example, were some roads closed during the winter in the Alps? Were some of the book crates transported on boats? Did the high number of tolls or customs make the STN choose undirect routes to sell their books? Was clandestine literature transported on the same roads?
