Notes: Attribution - edition(s) not identified, several produced. Manuscript information gives 'lettres philosophiques' and 'lettres philosophiques de Voltaire', which probably indicates the 'Lettre philosophique par M. de V***', a compilation first published in 1738 and reprinted many times in the second half of the eighteenth century, rather than Voltaire's 'lettres philosophiques' of 1734. The contents of different editions varied, but usually included numerous pieces by Voltaire. See Darnton 'Corpus'.
